Winning new social housing contracts thanks to automation

About Chigwell

Chigwell Construction was established in 1996 and is one of the leading maintenance providers for the social housing sector in London and surrounding counties. With 25 social housing and local authority clients on frameworks or contract and over 250 staff, their work covers planned and reactive maintenance, property void refurbishment works, access adaptation and compliance. 

Challenge

Chigwell secured a significant new contract with City of London which included a requirement to integrate with their housing management platform, Civica Cx. 
The integration needed to give City of London a comprehensive real-time overview of works to their properties, keeping both systems in sync throughout the job lifecycle. Because of the sensitive personal information about property residents, it also needed to meet high security standards throughout the project.
Chigwell had explored bespoke integration solutions in the past for similar applications, but the complexity of a two-way integration that left them facing long implementation timelines and costs that pushed the project out of scope. 

Solution

Chigwell were recommended to Ferrio by their job management software providers BigChange. During early discussions, we also identified two other contracts where Chigwell were manually creating and updating jobs onto client systems: Karibu Housing and Housing for Women, who used Dynamics 365 and HomeMaster respectively.
Because of our modular integration architecture and our partnership with BigChange, we could get straight to work on the BigChange–Cx integration without a lengthy scoping process beforehand. The modular approach meant we could roll out integration features iteratively, and we were able to expand the scope to another two platforms without undermining the work already completed on the first integration.

Results

All three integrations were live within three months of project confirmation, with the first integration between BigChange and Civica Cx going live in under 6 weeks.
Across all three integrations, Ferrio have now automated job updates for over 3,500 jobs every month, with Chigwell projected to save over 10,000 hours of admin time every year.
